Our Rules and Policies

PT Driver Education is pleased to assist you with acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain your Ontario driver’s licence and become a safe and responsible driver.

This course consists of 20 hours of in-class instruction, 10 hours of in-car training and home-link estimated to take 10 hours.  This meets the requirements as outlined by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO).

A full colour textbook will be issued to every student on the first day of classes.  The textbook will be used for both home and classroom work.  Please ensure that the textbook is brought to every class.   A replacement fee of $29.95 will be charged for lost textbooks.

Please note that MTO requires students to complete the entire course, both classroom and in-vehicle instruction, within one year of the start date.

We endeavour to make every session both in the classroom and in the car an informative and pleasant learning experience.  Please contact our office at 519.669.2722 if you feel you are not being treated respectfully or instructed well.

In-car appointments are scheduled with your instructor. Traffic, weather or mechanical problems can present delays.  If your instructor is more than 20 minutes late, please call the office.  Please provide your instructor with your cell phone number so that you can be contacted in the event of an emergency

If you must cancel a lesson with us please call the instructor 24 hours in advance, otherwise you will be charged a cancellation fee of $40.00/hr which must be paid by the next lesson.   We understand that unforeseen situations may arise; therefore, consideration will be given to medical emergencies.  Cancellation of Skid Control School requires 72 hours notice.

This is an option you may choose at an additional cost. The instructor has the right to refuse his/her car if they feel the student has not met the minimum requirement (80%) as set out by PT Driver Education.

Payment is due on the first day of classes.  For your convenience we accept cash, cheques, debit, Visa and MasterCard.  A fee of $25.00 will be charged for NSF cheques.

Paper certificates are no longer issued.  Upon successful completion of both in-car and in-vehicle training and payment of outstanding fees, PTDE will certify the student.  The student will then need to obtain a Driver’s Licence History (DLH) from ServiceOntario for $12.00.

The Driver’s Licence History provides proof of successful completion of and graduation from a BDE course and is widely recognized by the insurance industry as proof of course completion.  BDE Graduates with a Driver’s Licence History may be eligible for an insurance discount.
